During our past December council meeting, in addition to our new Digital and Entrepreneurship Academy, our members approved the Global Innovator program which was to be offered by Guangzhou University this summer. Hoping to host this program in Guangzhou, this Global Innovator program was unfortunately postponed.
We are pleased to instead offer “Applying Seismic Isolation to Protect Our Past and Our Future” which will be led by two Guangzhou University colleagues who are world renown experts in the field of earthquake engineering research. This two-hour professional development program, which further features our Alliance theme of sustainable development, will be offered online Thursday, June 24 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm (Beijing time). This program will be offered free of charge for the students of our Alliance members, industry representatives, area officials and alumni each member university invites.
Demonstration instruments and videos will be used to show the principle and effect of applications of seismic isolation. The program will be divided into the three sections of (1) Lessons Learned from Past Earthquakes; (2) Seismic Isolation Applications Used for the Macao-Zhuhai-Hong Kong Bridge, Canton Tower and Other Examples; and (3) Seismic Isolation Used for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and How the China-Italy Research Center for Protection of Historical Architectures and Cultural Relics (CIPAR) Works Together.
Our next series of Digital and Entrepreneurship Digital Academy online professional development programs planned for this September and October include:
Entrepreneurship and Business 4.0 on September 14 - 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm (Beijing time)
Entrepreneurship and Leadership on September 28 - 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm (Beijing time)
Intelligent Technologies for Road Accident Analysis on October 5 - 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm (Beijing time)
The Alliance especially wishes to thank and recognize our colleagues at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute for their generosity in offering these three programs. We expect more programs will be added and will keep everyone updated on new additions.
