Congratulations Emeritus Professor Barney Glover, AO on becoming the inaugural Commissioner of Jobs and Skills Australia who recently shared the following:
“On 10 April 2024, I formally stepped down as the Vice-Chancellor and President of Western Sydney University to take up the appointment of inaugural Commissioner of Jobs and Skills Australia. In line with the conclusion of my term with the University, I have also retired as the Executive Chair of the GISU Alliance.
I would like to thank members for the opportunity to have served as the Executive Chair and to have worked with you all as part of a very successful international alliance. It has been a pleasure to have been associated with the Committee and its representatives from the international sister-city universities as we sought to promote educational development, cultural exchange and academic cooperation. It was an honour for Western Sydney University to have hosted the GISU President’s Roundtable and Annual Council Meeting, followed by the 2023 GISU International Research Symposium, at our Parramatta campuses last year.
I would also like to acknowledge the leadership of President Wei Minghai, Guangzhou University, under whom we have seen the growth and success of the Alliance. I wish the GISU Alliance every success in its endeavours and I look forward to hearing of its future accomplishments.”
Guangzhou University Professor and President Wei Minghai and Chair of the Alliance of Guangzhou International Sister-City Universities, on behalf of both Guangzhou University and our Alliance, congratulates Emeritus Professor Barney Glover AO on becoming the inaugural Commissioner of Jobs and Skills Australia.
