An Alliance international symposium, “Business Rejuvenation, Resilience, and Creativity in a Changing World and Post Pandemic Future” was held in Sydney, Australia on October 14. Hosted by Western Sydney University, this symposium coincided with the Alliance annual meeting held the day before on October 13.
The academic, industry, government and community audience enjoyed the program’s relevancy and the topics of Tourism, Hospitality and Events; Smart Cities: Liveability, Workability and Sustainability; Entrepreneurship and Advanced Technologies; and AI and Technology Management.
The morning session included a welcome keynote address provided by Chris Hanger who is the CEO of the Greater Cities Commission. “Tourism in a Post Pandemic World” was presented by Dean Long, CEO, of the Australian Travel Industry Association, David Beirman, Adjunct Fellow, University of Technology Sydney, and Robert Harding Smith, Global Strategy Manager, Tourism Australia.
Western Sydney University Vice Chancellor and President Professor Barney Glover AO, Executive Chair of the Alliance and Guangzhou University President Professor Wei Minghai, Chair of the Alliance, also provided remarks.
A PHd poster session was held in the afternoon with a Sustainable Development Goals Masterclass presented by Jen Dollin, Director, Sustainability Education and Partnerships, Western Sydney University. Shaista Khan, Director Schools Program, Executive Committee Member, United Nations Association of Australia NSW Division, Andrea Spencer-Cook, CEO/Principal, One Stone Advisors PTY, LTD. Research presentations were also conducted.
